Project description

Gravel road, generating lots of dust. Sharp bends resulting poor sight distance. Pavement degradation. Narrow road (4.1mts)

Full seal of gravel road. Redefining drains with excavation and grade. Widening/ overlay 100mm, and stabilising road (if required) to an 7m formation with a 7m seal for 1.61 km. Widen culverts/ new culverts where required. Vegetation including tree removal and branch removal to improve sight distance on the road corridor.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
