Project description

This section of Biddy Camm Road is very narrow in sections and includes a curve in the road that the formation is currently unsafe and not clear as to what is Biddy Camm Road and what is an access to a private property. The floodway to be upgraded, drainage to the sides of the road, signage, lack of drainage culverts, sections requiring gravel resheeting. School bus route.

Gravel resheet Biddy Camm Road, improve drainage and line of site, cut new drains, backslopes and off shots to the side of the road. Install signage to meet Main Roads specifications. Removal of some vegetation.

Total cost of proposed project is $110,054

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
