Project description

Sealed road pavement is failing and losing shape in specific locations. Several road segments have potholes which are accelerating in size and extent. Seal edge is worn and there is extensive edge breaks along the majority of both sides of the road.

Edge patching of the full length of the road. Patching of isolated potholes. Reconstruction of full width of sealed pavement in the worst areas. Full width reseal for full length of road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
