Project description

Formation of road has deteriorated due to traffic. The road level is below natural surface making it impassable in wet conditions. Road side drainage is none existent causing deep scouring along side of the road and certain places crossing the road.

To form and build the road up to natural surface with natural material. Installation of drainage pipes, gravel construction 8m wide for a length of 2m. Bitumen spray seal and 10mm aggregate spread. This will include grading along the sides of the road to form table drains for drainage flow.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
