Project description

This section of Goodes Lane consists of a 5.5m wide gravel pavement. The pavement has lost gravel nearly to the full depth exposing the sub base in many locations. It reduces safety to traffic especially to Higher Mass Limit vehicles including school buses.

It is intended to re-sheet the pavement with 100 mm thick compacted gravel. This project will include grading the table drains, scarifying the existing pavement, adding gravel, shaping, compacting and trimming.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
