The project upgraded the intersection of Luxford Road and Hythe Street to provide a safer and more efficient network. The project includes installation of new traffic signals with pedestrian phases to improve access to and from Mount Druitt Hospital.
Safer transport along a major regional road between 2 state arterial roads and to the Mount Druitt Hospital
Improved traffic flow to and from M4 and M7 Motorways
Improve pedestrian, emergency and vehicle access and safety to Mount Druitt Hospital
Increased capacity through the provision of dedicated turning lanes on all the approaches to this intersection
Enhanced efficiency by reducing congestion and traffic queuing to allow heavy vehicles to travel uninterrupted between M4, M7 Motorways and Mount Druitt CBD
Australian Government funding was capped at $4,015,697.
Construction commenced in Mid-2023 and was completed in Early 2025.
