Project description

The project upgraded the existing Caddens Road, linking to Werrington Arterial Road.

Benefits

The project is expected to provide:

Improved road safety and traffic efficiency for the new housing development in the Caddens Release area
Improved road surface with formalised travel and parking lanes, and improved intersection
A direct link to the Werrington Enterprise Living & Learning Precinct

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $7,632,944 to this project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in early 2021 and was completed in early 2022.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
