Project description

Due to the small length of road and there is few other unsealed Council roads in close proximity, maintenance costs are high due to dedicated mobilisation required to undertake maintenance of this road. This road provides entrance to a major sporting oval with dust pollution causing issues with users of the facility as well as residents within close proximity of the facility.

It is proposed to seal the 180 metre section to the sporting facility

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
