Project description

This is a busy road and the road pavement surface, kerbing and several drainage pits are in a state of disrepair. If left unattended the road conditions will become dangerous and the road pavement will require more expensive reconstruction treatment.

The work proposed involves replacement of damaged kerbing, replacement of drainage lids and pits where required and then resurfacing with asphalt over the entire road pavement area cover the 850 metres road treatment section

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
