Project description

This section of road (approx. 1.3 Km) has been identified by the Toowoomba Regional Council's asset management system as a section of the road network to be rehabilitated. This road is classified as a regional arterial and significant link in the local road network it current has Approx. 2700 VPD with a significate percentage of heavy vehicles (10%).

Rehabilitate the pavement to a two lane standard (8m Seal on 8.5m formation), including pavement widening and adjustment to intersections to cater for heavy vehicles.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,597,448

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
