Project description

Booborowie Rd has an existing concrete bridge structure over the Walton Creek. The structure is estimated to be 70 years old and has deteriorated to the stage whereby a 22.5 tonne limit has been currently enforced. Booborowie Rd is a major sealed north-south corridor for the movement of freight and a temporary unsealed detour is in place to allow heavy vehicle movements to continue. Council has currently funded the replacement of the bridge structure however additional work has been identified in order to complete the bridge replacement. The alignment of the creek crossing is on an acute angle causing extensive erosion to the abutments and creek walls at the bridge.

The alignment of the creek will be improved at the road crossing in order to minimise erosion and washouts behind the abutments and bridge piers. A large concrete retaining wall and associated footings will be constructed on the north east embankment stabilizing the creek bank and bridge abutment. The wall will be 50m long and 5m high.
