Project description

Operational cost, road user safety and complaints (dust, road surface etc.) associated with unsealed road. Unsealed road section with poor vertical alignment, road side and crossroad drainage (floodway). The proposed continue previous road sealing works. The road is a key link connecting coastal communities at Elliott Heads, Coral Cove and Innes Park with key transport routes to the south (Goodwood Rd, Bruce Hwy)

Road formation widening, regrading (vertical alignment improvements), sealing and roadside drainage improvements.

Total cost of proposed project is $900,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
