Project description

Road surface has deteriorated and allowed water to enter the pavement through potholes and crocodile cracking. Several issues in this section of road with off road drainage and water ingress into the road through ground water.

Undertake further improvements to drainage, installation of rock pitching to prevent scouring, placement of geo-textile cloth to prevent scouring, increase off shoot drains from road surface into drainage and further head wall protection

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
