Project description

Deterioration of 20 km of Unsealed Gravel Road surface on the Shire rural road - Towera Lyndon Road

Gravel resheeting, formation reshaping, roadside drainage maintenance, vegetation clearing: • Extraction and mixing of materials from Shire gravel pits in order to form a homogeneous, well graded, compactable blend of gravel; • Transportation of the pavement materials to the work location; • Placement, compaction and trimming of the pavement materials in a single layer in order to achieve the specified cross sectional surface shape; • Reforming of V – Drains and offshoot drains;

Total cost of proposed project is $850,602

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
