Project description

Washed away and minimal gravel surface resulting in recurrent rough and boggy traffic surface due to sub-base being exposed (sand) and not a compacted surface.

Re-sheet entire Gawa central corridor road on Elcho Island servicing, cultural significant areas in addition to outstation homelands at a distance of 20Klms and 150mm of fresh gravel and cut new earth off shoot spoon drainage in selected areas for drainage flow away from the road.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,348,931

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
