Project description

This project provided intersection improvements at the junction of Traralgon Maffra Road and Moe Glengarry Road, including the construction of a new roundabout.

Benefits

The project has provided improved road safety for all road users, reduced congestion and improved travel times.

Funding

The Australian Government contributed $2.4 million and the Victorian Government contributed $0.6 million.

Timetable

This project commenced construction in October 2021 and finished in March 2022.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
