Project description

Road has previously been re-sheeted, however the gravel that was used had too high clay content, and as a consequence when the road is wet, the clay content is making the road very slippery and unsafe. Needs urgent remediation to address this problem. Ensure that the gravel that is used has a very low clay content to ensure that the problem does not arise again.

Gravel re sheet with good quality gravel, grade and compact.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
