Project description

The existing two way carriageway cannot cater for the high traffic volumes to date which is causing major maintenance and traffic delay issues. Traffic volumes have increased from 11,500 per day in 2005 to more than 22,000 vehicles per day in 2020. Also will complete the road network duplication between Donald Cameron Drive and James Mirams Drive.

Roxburgh Park Drive (Stage 2) - Road construction between Pinnock Ave and James Mirams Drive, including full bridge construction.

Total cost of proposed project is $2,588,582

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
