Project description

Javelin Road is the only access to the Dundee Downs boat ramp that is significantly used by tourists and communities for fishing and recreational purposes. It is an unsealed road and becomes very slippery during wet weather and provide a hazardous road surface for motorists with boat and trailers. Sealing of this section from the intersection with Barramundi Drive to the boat ramp will eliminate this safety risk.

Upgrade surface from unsealed to sealed standard on Javelin Road from Chainage 0.0 to 0.81 kilometres.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
