Project description

The existing road has significant rutting, edge break and sections with poor cross fall, seal stripping and pot holes occur regularly. Table drains are minimal and do not exist in some sections.

Replace one culvert that is failing. Form table drains to accepted standards. Rip the road and import gravel; form gravel to the required shape of the road and place a 7 metre wide seal with a 1 metre unsealed shoulder each side. Place signs and guide posts as required.

Total cost of proposed project is $450,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
