Project description

Current pavement is a formed road crossing a minor floodway, which links a busy Road Train Assembly Area and the industrial area. At present heavy vehicles are forced to drive on sealed roads through Robinson Street to access the industrial area when the road is closed after rain, or if they are transporting fresh produce and must avoid dust. By travelling via Robinson Street the heavy vehicles are contending with local traffic as well as a section of road that is access to 6 caravan parks and a National Black Spot intersection. By upgrading Harbour Road, heavy vehicles will have direct access to industrial area, therefore able to avoid Robinson Street.

Upgrade of road from formed insitu material, to construction of 250mm road base, two coat bitumen seal with 40mm asphalt at intersections. Works include the addition of table drains, stabilised pavement for 60 metres of floodway, and installation of a culvert for improved drainage in the area. Surveying and Civil Design already completed.

Total cost of proposed project is $2,003,203
