Project description

Ruttleys Road is an existing sealed road. This project addresses concerns regarding road safety and existing drainage issues. Problems with the road are: • Road safety. 1) There is insufficient site distance at points on the road due to the existing horizontal alignment and the presence of trees. 2) There is insufficient shoulder width in accordance with design guidelines and vehicles are unable to safely stop along the length of the road. • Drainage – there are existing flooding issues. 1) There is no existing kerb and channel, but there are 2 separate 450mm diameter pipe culverts and 1 x 525mm diameter pipe culvert under the road. 2) Insufficient drainage is contributing to road shoulder erosion, edge drops and deteroriation of the road pavement. 3) Property 39A sits within a natural depression. Stormwater from the 450mm pipe culvert near this property discharges water into this depression causing flooding issues at this property. Stage 3 construction will rehabilitate the existing pavement and widen the existing road to improve the safety for road users. The works will improve site distance for road users and address existing property access issues. Drainage improvements will also be provided to improve stormwater conveyance.

Road Reconstruction with pavement widening and drainage upgrades

Total cost of proposed project is $3,400,000
