Project description

The existing pavement is currently showing significant signs of pavement fails. The existing deficiencies include poor asphalt quality and an inadequate pavement design.

The objective of the project is to bring the road pavement to a desirable level of service as the existing road pavement has deteriorated below an acceptable level. The project scope includes undertaking pavement rectification works to remediate the failed pavement sections

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
