Project description

These sections of road (2.6 km length) have been identified by Toowoomba Regional Council asset management system as requiring pavement rehabilitation works. The road is in poor condition and features rutting and shape loss. In association with the pavement rehabilitation work the road will be upgraded from a narrow 3.5 m width to a standard 4m wide single lane road.

Reconstruct the pavement and widen the road to a single lane bitumen seal standard (4m seal on 5.5 m formation).

Total cost of proposed project is $1,017,521

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
