Project description

The existing asphalt seal has reached the end of its useable life, primarily resulting in significant surface defects such as potholing. Roadside kerb and gutter is also cracking and lifting, requiring replacement.

Where defects are present, roadside concrete kerb and gutter will be replaced. The existing asphalt surface will be milled to a depth of 50mm and any underlying pavement defects repaired where they present. A 50mm AC14 asphalt seal will then be applied.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
