Project description

This is a high traffic route for tourists visiting Lake Thetis which severely corrugates regularly throughout the year. There is little gravel remaining on the road as it was constructed many decades ago and not designed for so much traffic. It suffers sand blowouts and severe corrugation along this section requiring a lot of maintenance several times a year.

The road will be reconstructed to a sealed type 4 road which is an eight metre formation with a seven metre 2 coat emulsion seal. The subgrade will be pegged and constructed to the required level of compaction. gravel then will be imported to 150mm thick, water bound, compacted and trimmed. the seal will then be applied finishing with guide posts and advance warning signs.
