Project description

This project involves the upgrade of the existing intersection at Hogbin Drive and De Havilland Way. This includes the design and construction of a two lane roundabout. It will cater for the expected increase in heavy vehicle traffic associated with the development of Enterprise Park, near the Coffs Harbour Airport.

Benefits

The upgrade will ensure safer and more efficient vehicle access into and out of Enterprise Park. It will deliver improved freight access to the airport, reduce congestion for the local community and improve safety for all road users.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed to fund up to 80 per cent of the final cost of this project, up to a total Australian Government contribution of $3 million.

Timetable

Construction commenced in mid-2024 and was completed in mid-2025.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
