This project will duplicate Barwon Heads Road, south of Geelong, from Settlement Road to Reserve Road, and will deliver an additional southbound carriageway and upgrade and rehabilitate the existing northbound carriageway.
Works will also include grade separation of the level crossing with the Geelong-Warrnambool Rail Line, construction of a new bridge structure over Waurn Ponds Creek, intersection and signalling upgrades, installation of new guardrails and safety barriers, upgraded pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, improvements to street lighting, signage, drainage and landscaping, and planning for future upgrades.
The project has improved road safety for all road users, reduced congestion and improved travel times.
Construction commenced in late 2021 and was completed in mid 2023.
