Project description

This project upgraded Narre Warren North Road between Fox Road and Belgrave-Hallam Road in Narre Warren North.

Upgrades included:

an additional lane in each direction
upgrades to the Heatherton Road and Ernst Wanke Road intersections
investigating new safety treatments for the Memorial Drive and Crawley Road intersections

Benefits

Improved road safety for all road users
Reduced congestion and improve travel times

Funding

The Australian Government committed $31 million towards the project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction in October 2021 and was completed in May 2023.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
