Project description

Over a 45 km section of the Brand Highway, the project will:

Rehabilitate (granular overlay) 30 km of pavement; and
Widen 27 km including wide audible centreline from Muchea to the Gingin turnoff.

The project complements the recently completed NorthLink WA project.

The Australian Government has committed $20 million towards the $25 million project.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
