Project description

The project will:

Rehabilitate the pavement on 29 km over various sections between Kelmscott and Williams upgrading the sections of road subject to regular pavement failures
Replace the ageing Hotham River Bridge with a new concrete structure to current width and barrier standards which will improve safety

Benefits

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $28 million towards the $35 million project.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
