Project description

This project is expected to improve safety at the rail level crossing on Beams Road in Carseldine through the delivery of a new overpass bridge, removal of existing level crossing boom gates and facilities for active transport.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $56.24 million towards this project.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
