Project description

The concrete culvert has parts of the internal steel reinforcement exposed. If not addressed corrosion of the steel will decrease the useful life of the culvert and could lead to the collapse of the culvert.

To ensure that culvert is effective in future rain events the inside of the culvert needs to be relined with a plastic Invert Liner. This will prevent corrosion of the steel bars, increase the structural strength and extend the useful service life of the culvert.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
