Project description

Refer to SMEC data plus this road was built in 1965 and now requires partial reconstruction to treat extensive surface failures, distressed underlying pavement and stormwater run off. The old kerbs being very dilapidated.

Renew kerbs and in parts, structurally improve base pavement layers and provide a new wearing surface. Dilapidated indented parking areas are also being reconstructed.

Total cost of proposed project is $650,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
