Project description

Long narrow single lane causeway is hazardous to motorists resulting in unsafe driving conditions particularly at night. The 5 Mile Creek Crossing Floodway has sustained extensive pavement damage as a result of heavy haulage traffic from mining companies. The concrete as broken up and large pieces of wire mesh is protruding from the crossing resulting in motorists sustaining tyre wall damage.

Reconstruct the causeway to a 10 meter trafficable width including the installation of culverts, advisory signage and guideposts. Remove damaged concrete and protruding wire reinforcing mesh and replace with cement stabilised gravel.
