Project description

The twin cell Box culvert is beyond its service life and severely damaged requiring to be replaced immediately otherwise chance of collapse. The new culvert will be rated to B-double rated vehicles.

Stage two works proposed are: - Construct base slab, - Install box cells and headwalls, - Construct deck slab, - Construct road to tie into new deck - Install guard rail over the length of culvert - Seal road comprising of 14mm/7mm seal - Remove side track.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
