Project description

The road is narrow, pavement layer is failing, Culvert have reached the end of service life and need replacement, intersection do not meet current standards

Chainages 0 to 1.8 Km widen and realign formation to 10m wide, place 150mm base material, replace 5 set of culverts and improve stormwater flow, bring intersections to current standards . Place 10mm primer seal 8m wide, Carry out line marking with 3.5m Lanes. Chainages 0 to 1.5km widen and realign formation to 8m

Total cost of proposed project is $1,800,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
