Project description

Currently there is no gravel on this portion and severe scouring of road surface is occurring making this portion of the road unusable. Extra funding received in 2020/21 financial year has made the chainage different from those previously stated

Heavy formation of the existing road surface, scarify, shape and re-compact road surface to 150mm depth. Add 100mm of type 2.2 gravel to road surface and shape and compact to a 3% gradient to each side of the crown on the road surface. This will provide access to the barge ramp for school bus and traditional owners.

Total cost of proposed project is $177,334

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
