Project description

This project will undertake scoping work to develop a prioritised program of future projects along the Sunraysia Highway corridor between Ballarat and Ouyen, Victoria.

Benefits

The project aims to scope and develop projects which are expected to improve safety for all road users and improve transport network efficiency and productivity.

Funding

The Australian Government is fully funding the project.

Timetable

Scoping works commenced in late-2021 and are expected to be completed in late 2026.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
