Project description

This project will undertake scoping and development works to inform works in future tranches, including an assessment of the Bridgewater Road overpass in Portland.

Benefits

The project is expected to scope and develop projects in the Green Triangle which are expected to improve safety for all road users and network efficiency and productivity.

Funding

The Australian Government is fully funding $408,000 towards this project.

Timetable

Scoping and development works commenced in mid 2021 and it is anticipated completion in mid 2026.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
