Project description

This section of Christmas Creek road required reconstruction due to inadequate standards. The width, alignment and geometry is not adequate to current design standards. This road is considered as major road within the Scenic Rim region with the higher traffic volume.

Realignment, widening, drainage works, full pavement reconstruction and sealing to current design standards.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,400,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
