Project description

Existing sealed surface is in narrow, uneven, in poor condition which required currently high yearly maintenance. Upgrading road condition will reduce maintenace cost and increase life of asset. This project is continuation of previous approved RTR project.

Lime Stabilise existing subbase and overlay with gravel to strengthen and widen the road. Improving horrizontal sight distance over crest of hill by lowering road crest.

Total cost of proposed project is $836,007

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
