Project description

Existing sealed surface is severely deformed with pavement defects and inadequate pavement shape. This impacts riding quality and increases long term maintenance cost. Poor pavement shape also contributes to water ponding resulting in accelerating pavement defects.

Lime stabilise of existing subbase and overlay with gravel to strengthen and widen the road. Kerb and gutter will be replaced to improve the drainage of the road .

Total cost of proposed project is $1,176,110

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
