Project description

Sealed pavement rehabilitation required as identified by Council's Pavement Management System and Customer Request System. The existing sealed pavement on steep hill as it approaches the intersection needs rehabilitation due to heavy wear.

Profile existing sealed surface where necessary, apply new asphalt overlay over the full width of existing sealed pavement, then reinstate pavement markings and signage.

Total cost of proposed project is $85,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
