The upgrades will also enhance social equity in the Northern Territory by providing more efficient and reliable access to key essential services such as education, health and time-critical emergency services.

Sections for road upgrades will be prioritised based on investigations, assessments and analysis of the road conditions, vehicle accident data, and community and stakeholder consultations conducted by the Northern Territory Government.
