Project description

By developments of new residential and commercial property in suburbs of Hammond Park, Aubin Grove, Success and Atweel an average daily traffic on Hammond Road raises up to 22000 vehicles per day that required increase a capacity of existing road. The section between Brunch Circus and Bartram Road is only single carriageway that causes congestion and crashes related to queue. In addition to the traffic congestion, a mix of traffic users, such as cars, heavy traffic and pedestrians also contributing to the frequency of the crashes

The work proposed are construction of second carriageway on Hammond Road between Branch Circus and Bartram Road - approximately 1.5 KM of road and construction of the roundabouts at Hammond Rd/Hird Rd, Hammond Rd/Darlot Av/Carmel Way and Hammond Rd/Bartram Rd, associated drainage, street lighting work and complete verge and median island landscaping. The proposed improvement of Hammond Road between Branch Circus and Bartram Road will increase safety for pedestrian and cyclist, improve South-North connectivity and improve current environmental condition of road reserve.
