Project description

The pavement has extensive failures such as shoving and rutting along this section of the road. This pavement width is currently 6m. It is very difficult for vehicles pass each other safely in this narrow section of the road.

The project includes traffic control, lime stabilisation applying 100mm overlay, applying 14/7mm sprayed bituminous seal, installation of new drains and linemarking.

Total cost of proposed project is $521,819

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
