Project description

Road surface is narrow, deformed and breaking up. The road is unsafe for all stakeholders particularly for the school bus due to the increase heavy vehicle activity on the road

Rip and shape existing pavement to a depth of 150, strengthen and widen pavement by adding 100mm over and stabilising gravel overlay. Sealing of the entire reconstructed section with a waterproof wearing surface

Total cost of proposed project is $263,376

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
