Project description

The existing stone chip seal has reached the end of its usefull life and is stripping. A new seal if required to provide a good trafficable surface and to ensure water does not penitrate the road pavement. The table drain has filled up with material over the years and needs to be redefined and there is drop off between the seal and the shoulders in some sections that need addressing.

Redfine table drains, garde gravel shoulders and reseal with a 10mm stone chip seal.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
