Project description

This project includes two components:

The M5 Westbound Traffic Upgrade, which provides a new three-lane bridge over the Georges River and rail line, connecting the M5 Motorway and Moorebank Avenue to the Hume Highway; and

The M5 Motorway/Moorebank Avenue Intersection Upgrade, which will widen three of the four interchange ramps.

Funding

The Australian Government has increased its funding commitment from $152.5 million to $190 million towards this project.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
